God saw
that His creation,
though still beloved,
was beautiful no more.
His broken world
broke His heart
open.
Like a tear,
the immense love of God for the people of Earth welled up
and spilled out,
descending
like a brilliant star
through the universe
before appearing
as a baby in a bed of straw.
And this was
Christmas.
